Enhanced Properties of Ti/Al Laminated Composite Reinforced by High-Entropy Alloy Particles

Novel HEAp-Ti/Al laminated composites embedded with particles of the high-entropy alloy Al0.5CoCrFeNi (HEA) were fabricated by vacuum hot-press sintering at 730 °C. The phase composition and microstructure studied X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope SEM, energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), transmission (TEM), backscattering diffraction (EBSD) techniques. At this temperature, it has been observed that Al3Ti intermetallic compound is favored reaction results in dispersion original Al layer. A large number interfaces are formed between Al. deformed grains concentrated interface near Ti side. mechanical properties, including tensile compressive properties room analyzed. test indicate composite exhibited an average strength 258 MPa yield strain 9.86%. Compression show when a load perpendicular to layer applied, stress material 9.67% 474.09 MPa, respectively. Moreover, under parallel layer, fails due interfacial debonding.
